- Look in closets and storage areas — Especially in corners and behind boxes. Brown recluse spiders prefer dark, undisturbed spaces and can establish large populations in closets, garages, and attics.
- Run a UV blacklight through bedrooms at night — Scorpions glow bright green under UV light. A quick scan takes two minutes and can reveal scorpions you'd never spot otherwise. This is especially important in Lampasas and Kempner.
- Check attic and crawl space vents — Make sure screening is intact and that rodents haven't chewed through it since your last check. This is a critical fall task as temperatures drop.
